education

After graduating from Brown University with a degree in History, and Rhode Island College with a Masters in Teaching; I decided to develope my skills in the area of design.  I moved back to my hometown in PA and received a degree in Interior Design from Bradley Academy in 2001.  I taught the History of Art and Architecture at the Art Institute in York, PA and worked for a kitchen and bath firm until the birth of my first daughter.  Since becoming a mother in 2004, I continue to complete a few interior design projects a year, while expanding my knowledge on fibers and dye with workshops online and at Pro Chemical and Dye in MA.

projects

I have always enjoyed texture, color and patterns.  Over the past few years I have worked on developing my own unique fabric dyeing techniques.  My fabric of choice is made of bamboo fibers.  I love the way the dye adheres to the bamboo fibers and the silky feel of the fabric.  My latest projects have incorporated techniques from folds learned though a workshop on Shibori and clamp resist dyeing.  I also have a passion for knitting with bulky merino yarn.  New projects are waiting to be started that incorporate both bamboo and merino!

family

My family is very dear to me and the center of my life!   I have two daughters who enjoy working with me and creating dyed accessories to wear to school.  My Canadian husband is very supportive as I often dye late in to the night and has generously given me the best washer and dryer for my business!  We have relatives in the United States, Scotland, and Canada.
